Poppy looked back over her shoulder at the girl that was standing on the top of the hill, almost memorized by the traumatizing experience she'd just encountered. She was the first person Poppy had ever met and they weren't off to a good start. Poppy had gotten claimed right there on the hill just as she arrived which was a pleasant surprise, but not for the girl. After Nemesis had told the girl to watch out for her daughter, she seemed even more scared then before. And that was saying something, considering the look on her face.

All Poppy asked her to do was show her to the Nemesis cabin the nicest way she could, but the girl seemed to scared to answer. Poppy laughed at the girl. She didn't know who wouldn't have, but she was already gone before she could feel too bad about anything she might've done to the girl. Now she was left in a strange camp, forced to now find the Nemesis cabin on her own. She was sure she would eventually find it, but if worse came to absolute worse, it was possible she could ask for help. Well, more like demand some help.

She decided the best place to start was simply walking straight, but when your in a camp with lots of twists and turns and not to mention, people, going straight isn't as easy as you would think. But Poppy wasn't the type to get lost that easily. Growing up in the ritzy titzy part of London gave her time to learn the ropes of how to survive with all types of people. Her aunt and uncle would take her to rich people parties just to show her off, and she learned how to talk the language of almost every type of person. Rich, poor, rude, stuck-up, you name it.

When her guardians wouldn't use her to rube it in their "friends" faces, they'd lock her in a room without food or water as long as she was in there. It wasn't always for days and days on end because they went to a party almost every night, it was just a matter of when they felt the need to take her. Then they let her bathe, fed her, and made her look not so...starved. She learned to be alone and fend for herself in the dark, using pretty good senses of hearing. Needless to say, being alone was good for her, although some may disagree and say love is the best medicine.

Poppy looked to her right as she came across one of many cabins. It was very busy with kids practically falling out of the windows. From all of what Cody, her satyr, had told her, this must be the Hermes' cabin. It was where the Hermes' kids lived along with the unclaimed demigods. She felt lucky that she would never have to experience that, being claimed on her first day and all. She highly doubted that was something that happened to everyone. She noticed a boy, a lot older then her, leaning on the rail of the steps to the cabin. She looked at him with a smug look on her face.

She presumed he was just another stuck-up kid that thought he knew everything because he just thought he was cool like that. Poppy figured he was unclaimed by the look on his face, but thought his godly parent was someone amazing. Of course, it would probably end up being the tiniest of the minor gods, and then she would laugh. She turned to keep walking, but noticed all the other cabins lined up in a row. She knew she could never tell the Nemesis cabin from the others. She knew she could take this kid on if needed. Gripping the skull necklace on her neck, she walked up to the base of the steps and looked at the kid, "Do you know where the Nemesis cabin is or not?"

Alex had woken up that morning to see the Hermes Kids about to throw a bucket if water at him. Alex had quickly redirected the bucket and the bucket flew out of the door and hit three Ares kids and some other kids he didn't know. "Sorry.. I didn't mean to-" Alex had been interrupted by a fist flying towards his face. Alex ducked and swept the kid off the ground. "I don't wanna fight bro." Alex said. The other Ares kid got angry and did a flying dragon kick at him. Alex rolled towards the side and spin kicked the kid's face. "Two down.. Three to go." Alex said to them. The last airs kid punched, Alex blocked, the left fist came at him, Alex blocked it also and twisted both arms, kicking him back. The last two kids who weren't Ares kids took off bolting before they would feel the wrath of Jeet Kune Do. He turned back to the kids who were going to prank him and they had sat down very scared like.

As Alex had done his daily routine of jogging, then eating breakfast, then going to the Arena to practice his martial art. Alex put on his Yellow lakers cap, a black T-Shirt, and some jeans. He had his braclet/sword and his watch/ shield on. Alex lie back on the railing of the cabin, relaxing and listening to music. He had seen a little girl come up to him. "Do you know where the Nemesis cabin is or not?" The girls said talking like she was all important or something. "Well then.. Hey there to you too." Alex looked at the girl. "Yeah.. I know where it is.. I'll take ya.. I'm Alex.. What's your name?"

Poppy had never come across someone that seemed so arrogant right off the bat. It was normal to eventually become stupid in her presence, but before she even said a few words to this kid? Pathetic. She didn't need to say hi to this kid, it was obvious he was about four or five years older then her and she was already claimed. Not him. That had to say something on the rank of superiority. She couldn't even tell what his weapon of choice was. As far as she knew, kids were always supposed to carry their weapons around with them, so she couldn't see why this kid was any different from the rest. She always had a knife with her, even before she knew she was a half-blood.

It hadn't ever been easy trying to hide knives in her pockets, but she always managed somehow or another. But whenever she didn't wear clothes with pockets, which tended to happen a lot, she was stuck. Since her mother's claiming gift to her had been a skull necklace that when pulled, turned into a knife, she'd at least always have one with her, and that was nice. This kid might have a transform able weapon too, but it was highly unlikely since he appeard to not be claimed yet. Cody had told her that most gods gave their children a gift when they were claimed to sow respect. The ones that gave unusual gifts tended to care more, but the classic was the transformable weapon.

Poppy knitted her eyebrows together when she heard he knew where her new cabin was. Maybe he wasn't a total airhead, no matter how much he appeared to be one. She loosened the grip on her necklace when he told her what his name was. Now she was sure he wasn't a threat at all. No one in their right minds would give out their first name to a stranger, at least where she was from. Her aunt and uncle on the other hand gave their name out to the local grocer just because they could. Getting to be in the paper whenever possible was enough to make life worth living again for them. They were the real airheads, no. Poppy didn't learn any skills from them.

Her training had been done by her old friend Cody, that was, when he was still alive. His parents and Poppy's guardians were great friends, so they got together whenever they could, leaving Cody and Poppy to play and basicly do whatever they wanted. Cody brought her knives, and she taught him about street talk and all those things. Being locked in her room with nothing to do but think helped her more then she realized at the time. There was one crevice in one of the corners of the attic that she would look threw for days on end and watch people steal bread, and get caught for their crimes. That's how she learned to steal and be sneaky.

Looking at the kid, she suddenly moved her hand back up to her charm. Why would he ask for her name? Was she a dog that needed to wear a collar? He obviously was just like everybody e,se and that was both good and bad. Bad because it would annoy Poppy greatly, but good because that also meant he wasn't a theat to her. "Poppy," she said, "Now can we stop the small talk? I have a cabin to move into."

Alex looked at the girl. He started to use his skill of deduction. She had just been claimed by Nemesis, it was her first day at camp.. And she was as arrogant as hell. Alex had half a mind to smack her upside the head if it wasn't for the fact that she was a girl. Thinking that being claimed would make her much more important than the Unclaimed kids. Alex would laugh if she would insult an unclaimed kid just to see the kid be claimed by Zeus and she get's hit by lightning. Alex would really love to see that. Alex pulled up his hat and looked at the girl. She looked around 12 years old. Such arrogance at such a young age. Alex was rich.. And he wasn't arrogant about it. As a matter of fact he wanted to live his childhood normally but couldnt. And he was never spoiled about a thing in his life.

"Poppy,"v The girl had said her name was. Alex nodded, "Now can we stop the small talk? I have a cabin to move into." The girl had said. Alex rolled his eyes at the girl and sighed. This girl really thought she was all that. His brother used to be like that untill Alex had smacked him upside the head a couple of times. Alex wondered if that was to work on Poppy. "What ever you say.. Your royal highness." Alex said sarcastically and got up. Starting to walk towards the Nemesis cabin.

Now Poppy's former idea had become a proven fact. This kid was stupid and arrogant, as if there was a difference. She wasn't sure if he thought she couldn't see him roll his eyes at her, but she had learned to spot almost every little thing. When you grow up looking through a .5 centimeter wide whole, you learn to notice the tiniest things with the slightest parifial vision. If this guy kept up this attitude, he would end up with a knife in his foot, and then maybe he'd think twice about messing with her. She was twelve and already claimed on her first day, this kid was what, sixteen, seventeen maybe, and not claimed. What does that tell us? A lot.

She could feel her hand starting to grip the skull even tighter, daring to pull just a little it farther and wanting so bad to feel the knife in her hand for the first time. But she knew she couldn't, not unless she needed to. Her temper was getting shorter and shorter by the minute, but all she wanted was to get to her new cabin without having to talk to the head of camp, whatshisname, and get kicked out right after her mother claimed her. She was determined to have a good first day, then she could have a horrible second day and through some knives at random campers. She would try to miss, of course, but if one slipped...

Poppy knew that for this kids own safety, he had better shut up. Even thoughPoppy loved having people boss around, she was not royalty. Her aunt and uncle hung out and went to parties with actual royalty, and she was nothing like them. She simply refused. That was a much greater insult then just using sarcasm, even though it still ticked her off, not as much as being called royalty. Is kid might think he was royalty, which was just another reason Poppy didn't want that title, but she didn't. Royalty was stuck-up, snooty and rude people bossing each other around and simply annoying everyone else. That's why so many royal people got assassinated.

The kid had his back turned. It would be so easy to pull the necklace and let the knife lodge itself into his back. She slowly looked around her, no witnesses. It would be so easy, that was true enough, but then she would have to find someone else to lead her to the Nemisis cabin and ask questions for the investigation. That would just be another weight on her shoulders. She couldn't let that happen, so the on,y solution was to suck it up and keep moving. She quickly ran up in front of the kid, blocking his way until he decided to stop. She titled her head at him, "Now why would you say that?"

Alex sighed at the girl. Did he really have to help such a girl? She got on Alex's nerves. Alex wished to grab her and slap her silly. Alex shrugged the thougt. She was just a little girl. She couldn't help the way she acted. Alex would have to deal with her. Alex smiled at her sincerley. As the girl blocked his way and Alex couldn't pass through. His hatred came back but then quickly left as she tilted her head at him and said "Now why would you say that?" Alex sighed at the girl.

"It's nothing. I'm being an idiot." Alex said sucking up his pride which was really hard. He picked her up and moved her towards the side as he started walking towards the cabin Nemesis cabin. He passed by and the three Ares kids he had beaten earlier while they tried to jump him looked at him and took off running the other way. Alex just laughed.

((Sorry for the suckish post))

Honestly, could this kid act any more arrogant? Poppy was fed up with it. She could live without his sarcasm and rude remarks. She was totally fine with being rude, but this was just strange. He wasn't scared at all. She figured he thought it was a joke, how typical. Everyone that she had ever met thought she was just a helpless little girl who was arrogant in bravery. They were so wrong and most of the time paid the consequences. Poppy didn't like hurting for fun, she had a heart even though she kept it guarded, but her temper was a whole other part of her. When she got angry, sometimes there was no stopping her and other times it was impossible to get a reaction out of her.

She narrowed her eyes as he leaned in towards her face and sighed. As he spoke again Poppy smirked, she wasn't going to argue with that statement. She knew it was true, apparently he didn't ink it was true, he was just being that same sarcastic Alex that had showed itself minutes before. She thought they were past that but obviously not. The remark was probably meant to sound like sarcasm, but even if it was, Poppy knew deep down it was true. An idiot. She wasn't sure if he was always this way, but if so, he wouldn't get many friends acting that way. But Poppy wasn't the one to talk about friends. She didn't want them. She didn't want to trust. With trust, comes hurt.

She took a step back as Alex reached out his hands toward her. If he was trying to hurt her, the joke would be on him. She slid her hand down to the pocket of her pants and rested her hand on the outline of her knife. It would take her a second to pull it out and another one to put it up to his neck. Then from there very thing was easy, apart from the fatal decision whether to pierce skin or let them off with a scare. Although, this kid had a tough shell. He seemed cocky and not one to scare too easily and Poppy respected that as well as hated it. That made him all the more dangerous. She presumed his cocky self was just another layer of his jerky facade.

She was confused for a moment when he lifted her up. Instead of kicking and screaming, she just allowed herself to be lifted, with her hand still on her pocket. He then set her down off to the side of him, how childish. He couldn't even face her! That was sad, after all, she was just a "kid". He was a cocky teenager, couldn't he take her or was he scared? Poppy smirked as he passed her and walked up to some kids. They looked big and mean, he would get pummeled and she would laugh, but instead they got up and ran. What had he done or said to them o scare them away like that. He was probably half their size wasn't he? They could've taken him right?

Irritated with him for having this shield up that seemed to make him untouchable, she slowly slid her hand into her pocket and ran her finger down the edge of the blade. Should she? Maybe he was dangerous and that was why the kids left him, but he could also just be all bark and no bite. Poppy gripped the blade and, in one swift movement, ran up to him and held the knife at his throat. He was a lot taller then her, but it didn't take too much force to have down at her level. She glanced back at the group of kids that had just dashed away from this kid. She was going to find out what was so scary about him. "What the heck was that?" she whispered, trying to get her voice to stay calm.
